Just built myself the following computer

AMD 3500
Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI
2gb ddr ram pc3200
2 x 6800 td grapics cards
160gb seagate sata hd

Ok the problem,

It been running fine for the 3 weeks since i built the machine not one problem.
Then on friday of last week it started freezing up on me, nothing at all working had to turn power off to reboot.

i first thought is was a problem with the hard drive as it was bringing up a few error messages, now i think different.
Ive re-installed windows, but still get the same problems.
Ive also checked the memory i had, no probs with that either.

Im still getting the freeze up on the computer, ive also noticed that when i go into the CMOS and try to auto-detect my Hard drives, my CMOS then freezes up and loads of triangles appear at the bottom of the screen.

Please someone give me an idea what this could be.

Thanks Carl

Welcome to the Forums :) What brand and model of power supply is towing the boat there?

Welcome to AT forums ;-)

Tech Question: What was the last thing you did before experiencing these problems? Program installed or uninstalled?

Have u tried running single vid card to see if its a SLI problem? Overclock at all? hmm i would say do a memtest to see if ur ram may be faulty at all. In fact start doing some hardware troubleshooting. alternate ram sticks, vid cards.

If it has only been 3 weeks it may be a faulty piece of hardware that should be RMAed before the usually short replacement warranties are over.

I am not sure what to say about it freezing in CMOS. does it ONLY happen when u autodetect ur HDs? I dont see how it would be ur HDs as usually it either detects it or it doesnt.

Dam nice setup btw

Never heard of them. Was it expensive enough that you have reason to think it's a quality unit? Because the freebie trash that they include with many cases nowdays... forget it. Consider getting a nice aftermarket unit next thing. For a 24-pin mobo with two 6800-series cards, I'd think about (classic mechBgon overkill) an Enermax in the 600W area.

Relax, nothing on the system changed before the problems started, it was working fine on the friday night, woke up saturday morning thats when the problems started.
I have also tried running different vid cards to check them, also tried changing the mem sticks around 1 by 1, even after doing memtest and getting no errors.
The freezing in the CMOS does only happen when i auto detect my Sata HD, my IDE drive has no problems.

Mech
the PSU was pretty expensive and was also recommended by 3 other people that have used the same psu, although only 1 of them has dual vid cards.

so gutted at the minute that ive spent all this money on the system and my old p4 2.6 is out doing it.
