Hey guys,

I am at a brick wall and I desperately need the help of people like you who understand this stuff. Admittedly I'm not the best at putting computers together, but I really think this may not be a fault of my own.

Currently I have my mobo sitting outside of the case on a cardboard box. The only things plugged in are 1) the RAM (I have tried swapping out and using only one stick, as well as different DIMM slots), 2) The AGP 8x video card (Sapphire 9600Pro), and 3) the power cords to the mobo (both cords), plus several insignificant LED leads and such.

When I power on the computer, the fans rotate and everything, but there is merely a blank screen on the monitor. PLUS, if I plug the optical drives into the PSU, they receive power. However, when they are also plugged into the ATA slot on the mobo, their power is cut off and they do not react in any way when the system is powered on.

The debug LED on the mobo consistently reads "FF," which according to the manual means "The flash has been updated successfully. Make flash write disabled. Diable ATAPI hardware. Restore CPUID value back into register. Give control to F000 ROM at f000:FFF0h." Not sure if this has anything to do with anything.

I have also tried clearing the CMOS, to no avail.

Please help!

What if you only have video card and floppy plug in, remove everything else.. if you got a boot disk use that, any chance you may have shorted the mobo ?

Removed everything else, still the same results. I just don't get it.

I don't think I've shorted it. I hope it's just a bad mobo... I got it from newegg, and from what I hear, they're really good with returns, so maybe I'll just call them on Monday and have them send me over a new one... is it that easy?

Also, if anyone has any suggestions as to what else it could be, please let me know!

I just had to RMA a Soltek SL-K8TPro-939 motherboard that I got from Newegg. I had alot of the same problems you did (blank screen, problems with memory) but the biggest problem I had (resolved the others) is that Windows did not load. Newegg was great about the RMA, they've already processed it and I should have a new one sent sometime in the next 2 days or so.

So yeah, go ahead and RMA it!

kabob,

I think I definitely will do that, but could you tell me what it was you did to resolve the video problems? I even tried booting with a PCI video card and it still was blank. Perhaps my jumpers are set incorrectly or something?

Also, do you have to send the merchandise back to newegg before they'll ship a replacement? I know some places ship the replacement and then once you receive it you have a certain number of days to return the original.

Thanks a lot guys. Man this is a bummer.
