Ok, thanks for reading this. I'm building a new pc. I got the cpu in yesterday and put everything together.

specs:

MSI Neo2 Platinum mobo
3200+ winchester
Corsair value select ddr400 512mb
radeon 9600xt
Antec SOnata case with 380W psu


So I put everything together yesterday and it wouldn 't post. I used the diagnositc USB LED thing that's included. Told me it was the ram. SO I switched it to slot 2. It posted! But I noticed the keyboard and mouse were not plugged in. I turned the power off, plugged the keyboard and mouse in and rebooted. Nothing. Nothing happened at all. So I rechecked all the connections and everything was in order. I took the 20 pin power cord out of the mobo and noticed a cord was recessed ( http://marston.textamerica.com/?r=1826452 ) It's the second from the left wire on the top row. So I pushed it back in and crossed my fingers. Still nothing! I also noticed a weird thing. That wire pops out really easily. ( http://marston.textamerica.com/?r=1826474 ) And when it's plugged in the mobo and that wire is loose, the fans turn for a millisecond. Like it gets a tiny bit of power and turns the fan a few times. It keeps going over and over. But nothing! Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me. I was up until 4 am last night and woke up at 9 to try this again. But I'm completely stumped. Bad PSU? Bad mobo? Bad installer?

*pulls hair out* Newegg and Antec are both closed. I could go to the local store and buy a psu, but I thought this case was $100 cause it had a quality psu. Argh.
 
There are little ears on the contact that may need to be sprung out a little bit to hold the contact in the shell. Unfortunately you may need to wait until next week to RMA the PSU if that doesn't work. Also examine your RAM socket very carefully to be sure none of the plastic is cracked as the usualy reasons for failure to boot are improperly seated RAM, CPU or AGP video card.

Damn. I thought Antec PSUs were supposed to be good? I guess even the best products have a lemon once in a while. Damnit, I wanted to get the pc up and running today so I could play HL2 at more than 7fps 🙁 Maybe I should go to the local store, get a psu and set that up in the meantime and return it once newegg sends me a new one... 🙂

Do those "ears" on the side of the connectors serve any purpose other than to hold them in place? I noticed one side has a broken one.
 
The saga continues. :-/ I broke down and went to get another PSU. However, the 4 pin connector just doesn't go in. I have applied steady and firm pressure and it just doesn't budge. The old Antec one goes in smoothly. Any suggestions?
 
It must be a bad mobo. I bought a new psu, and finally worked the 4 pin in and it won't power up. I double checked the ram and everything. ugh The fans only do slight turns when that second pin from the left on the 20 pin connector is removed from the oringial Antec psu.

Should I exchange the mobo or psu?
