If only we had a Technical Support or Networking forum...

My first suggestion would be to powercycle the router and modem (unplug both, wait a couple minutes, plug in the cable/DSL modem and wait for it to boot, then plug in the router) and see if it works.

After that... log into the router (RTFM if you don't know how) and see if it's getting an address correctly from the modem. If it's not, then something has gotten messed up in the router->modem configuration. If you can't talk to the router at all... then it's probably broken (could be a bad cable, or a bad port, or the whole thing just gave out for some unknown reason).

WRTP54G is a VOIP (Vonage) router if I'm not mistaken.

Mine (a RT31P2) does something similar, here's what I suggest:

When your computer loses internet, check your phone to see if it still gets a tone and can make calls. My Vonage router tends to drop the computers off the 'net even though it still has a good internet connection.

The current generation Linksys routers Vonage uses apparently have some technical flaws that cause these problems, especially if you use any P2P file sharing software (like bittorrent).

Unfortunately, without a hardware change, the only solution is to reset the router whenever it happens.

If you loose internet & phone altogether your router could be faulty.

If you arre willing to change/add hardware, it's apprently possible to put the Vonage router behind another one (like a WRT54GL), and run both your computers and Vonage router off the new one. This leaves none of your computers behind the Vonage router, making your internet connection more stable.

None of the wire configurations get me internet access, and i check that with the router software. the lights flash internet on both the router and modem.

WRX, i dont use vonage, i just have this router because my brother in law didnt want it. Does that make any difference? Thanks

Heen:

I'm not sure what a Vonage router does when put into an environment w/o Vonage service.

I would hope that that non-VOIP routing would still function, but your situation argues otherwise.

I'm not sure what to suggest you do at this point. Maybe try a total reset of the router (hold the reset button down for a while, 10 seconds should do it), then try setting things up again. If that doesn't work (and it's wired correctly), you may havve to try another router.
