please help quick boot on ecs mainboard

amd athlon xp prosessor k7 1.7mhz palomino
256 DDRam
cd writer acer
dvd rom liteon
hardisk 13 gb
vga nvidia tnt 32 mb
usb card reader makes 4 portable drives on systems b:/ to e:/

os: windows98 se

i have questions here..:
is there any product fault with dvdrom liteon, or is there any known issues with dvd rom liteon on ecs mainboard? the problem is the booting sceen is never showed up after i've installed the dvd, sometimes it never detect any cd and dvd drive on systems, but often it works without problem at all!!, before i install the dvd drive there's no problems...for your informations i have installed all drivers that it would require.

Can you see the drive in Windows? Are you sure you have the drives jumpered correctly?(master/slave) How about the cables orientation?(red stripe on pin1 and longer space between connector on MB side) If that doesn't help you might want to try a different cable. Also check that the IDE channels are enabled(and set to auto) in BIOS.
 
I'm using the older k7s5a (rev 3.0)

I've had no problems with my setup, 2 hard drives on primary channel, 2 optical drives on secondary channel, and controller card.

The one problem I've had is when I specify a drive in the bios and then remove it, go into your bios and change all drives to auto before hooking up the new drive

make sure that your ide (and power) cables are in tight as well.

I personally i like drives manual in the bios, so I auto detect them so the correct drive info shows, its always been correct in showing hd/hd/cdrw/dvd
