Please Help! Probs with my new monitor

I just got my Samsung SyncMaster 770TFT today and hooked it up. No dead pixels, but there are a couple of other issues that I can't seem to figure out.

First, on an all-black screen, there are noticeable bright spots on the right side of the screen and on the top. I can't seem to get rid of these through any of the on-screen controls.

Second and a bigger problem, text and window edges jitter or flicker. If you look at the text, you can notice that they're sort of shaking. It really fatigues the eyes.

I'm not sure if the first problem is fixable, but obviously, the second one shouldn't be happening. I tried calling Samsung tech support, but the guy was of no help saying that he had never heard of such problems before. He said I should take it back to the store and see if other models display the same behavior, but I ordered this through Dell, so any exchange would be a hassle.

I'm running Win2k SP2, with a Radeon 64DDR VIVO using the latest official ATI drivers (5.13.01.3102), and the monitor drivers from the included CD-ROM. Settings are the native 1280x1024 resolution, 60Hz, and 32-bit true color.

If anybody could provide any help, it would be greatly appreciated! I've already returned one model because of too many dead pixels, I don't want to have to go through the trouble of returning another (especially since there aren't any dead pixels!). 🙁

I don't know that much about LCDs but the text definitely should not be jittering. I would call Dell and ask them for another one. My friend just received a Sony G520 from them and the thing was totally messed up. There was physical damage to the monitor, the text was extremely blurry, and the left side has a blue tint. Dell told him that they would send him another one overnight and then he would send the damaged one back with the delivery guy.
