Please Help! Powerpoint won't animate the way I want it to :(

I am trying do get objects to change location on the slide (not zoom on and off the slide, like ppt likes them to).

For the biology inclined, I want to show an external cell stimulus, and then show a protein inside the cell moving into the nucleus from the cytoplasm.

For the non-biiology inclined, I just want to animate an object once it is already on the slide. I want it to move to another location on the slide.

Maybe Powerpoint can't do this and I should be devoting my energies to an animated gif, but this is something that could be done quite well by moving the little ppt objects around.

Any ideas?
