Please help pick the best drivers...

Hello all,
I have build a computer for my daughter out of spare parts. It has an old PII 300 on a gateway motherboard and I installed a MSI MS-8808 Riva TNT2 M64 32MB video card. MSI website recommends Nvidia driver 31.00 for this card, is that the best driver for htis older system?

Thanks in advance,

Quixfire

P.S. There are no problems with the video card, was just looking to upgrade the driver from 7.xx level.

since it is a gateway mb, probably go w/31.00 but, if you have good internet speed, might try the newest drivers from nvidia. They may be faster, may not. but the 31 should work w/o a hiccup.

Hope that helps!

With that card any driver's not really going to help performance as that card is slow as hell since it's a dumb-downed 64-bit version of the regular 128-bit TNT2. Try the 40.72 WHQL drivers but stay away from the 41.03/41.09/42.01 beta drivers that are circulating around the Internet as these have given people (including myself) nothing but slower performance and other headaches.🙂

Thanks for the input, I going to install the 31.00 Drviers tonight.

Again, I don't have a issue with perfomance, just wanted to upgrade the drivers. I plan on running mostly kids games and a few late 90's RTS.
