Please help pick a tablet/laptop from this list

I know someone who needs to buy something from this list:

This is a large list, so is it possible to narrow it down to a couple that satisfy all three:
1) Popular mainstream model (better support, documentation, etc)
2) Good bang for buck (just basic use, not professional)
3) Able to find a deal on a new in box or refurb one. (Ebay, etc)

Surface Pro 3

It's last year's model so you should be able to find deals. It's MS' top end mobile device so it's well supported.

This. If I could afford the SP 4, that's where my $$ would go. The 3 should now be a value and is still a great device.

Seconded, only if you can't shell out for the SP4. I have the m3 version of the SP4 and for what I do; web browsing, note taking on PDF slides (really cool, btw) for class, word processing, netflixing, etc. it works perfectly.

Of course you do need to buy the type cover separately which pushes even the m3 model nearer to $1k but it's still a great device.

Thanks, I knew there would be someone who actually has something useful beyond the LMGTFY nonsense.
I will look into the Surface, but aren't they stupid expensive?

You just have to wait for a sale, while possibly also stacking with coupons they sometimes have. BB had $100 coupon floating around when I bought mine. Just have to keep your eyes open on the deal sites.

YMMV on this, my local BB won't let me stack coupons. I tried stacking the 10% movers with the college student coupon and they said no dice.

Even with the 10% student coupon after taxes it was still cheaper to buy it from Amazon.

What's so great about the Surface pro to justify a price of around $1k? That's about what I paid for the HP Envy 17t with DVD burner, 1tb hdd, 16gig ram, 17" screen, etc. Of course it's a beast and weighs about 5lbs plus has the battery life of a firefly but still, it seems like a lot of money for a tablet.

You kinda answered your own question.

Someone was bored and didn't care that you made next to zero effort on your own part.

By the time you get to asking random people on the internet, it would be a common courtesy have more than none of your homework done. This isn't Yahoo Answers.

Shoot, it would have been even better if you didn't have a massive list, just some features and a price range. Or were you honestly expecting someone to know enough about each of those models?

That's weird, as that's exactly what I did when I got mine. It was already on sale, then used a movers coupon with student coupon and got it for a hell of a deal.

Also keep in mind that BB price matches Amazon, so Amazon's price should only help you here.

I'm seeing prices of $650-700 for the SP3 right now. Where do you get $1k?

Mine must be strict, because I asked if they price matched and said yes (obviously), but they can only do the coupon or the price match not both.

If I had waited for it to go on sale, plus been able to stack the coupons it would have been considerably cheaper. I still think it's a fair price for what I paid and am very happy with the decision to get it.

I have an 11" Macbook Air (early 2014 model) that I've been using prior for about a year and a half, and don't see myself going back to it after using the SP4 for about a week now.

This is GoodEnough, he generally posts semi-troll threads. This is in perfect form for him. He's also the guy who thinks nobody should have more than 8gb of phone storage and can't see a reason for uSD cards to exist.
