Please Help! No sound with Aureal Sq2500 and w2k

I am not getting any kind of sounds with w2k and Aureal Sq2500. The driver is WDM from w2k. Please help me fix this problem. Thx.

what kind of motherboard do you have? vortex2 sound cards hate via chipsets, especially kt133/kx133. Have you tried the beta drivers yet? try vortexofsound

But my experience is that Vortex2 will never live happily in win2k unless the drivers get fixed, but since Aureal is no more, there won't be any more driver updates.

AjLoS, I was having the same problem: Aureal SQ2500 with Win2k = NO SOUND. That is until I plugged my speakers into the other speaker plug, now it sounds great. All Win2k sounds, all games, all CD music etc. all working fine now.

There was a note on HardOCP.com, about the latest WZ bios for Abit KT7 which fixed a memory timing issue in connection with Aureal sound cards.

Here's what I did. I pulled the piece of crap out of my computer, kicked my self in the ass for being stupid and then I bought a Creative Sound Blaster. Solved my problem just fine.

sure it can solve the compatability problem, but it'll also kick you back a generation to crappy 3D Audio (unless you're doing DVD's with software Dolby Digital decoding, but really the card only provides output channels, and sits back to let the CPU do the work, somewhat like how those USB speakers worked).
