just picked up a new 2400+. Hooking it up to my k7s5a mobo....fan spins and everything looks ok, but it wont post. Any suggestions on what to try?

yeah because the fan spinning has everything to do with a cpu posting.

did you just upgrade the cpu or build a whole new system?

Hmm.

Old BIOS on the ECS doesn't support that particular core/stepping/multiplier?
Improperly seated RAM/component?
Heatsink not fitted properly? :Q

I'm just taking shots in the dark here. 😕

the bios finds the cpu and sets the bus/mutiplier. yes you can set it to something else but you need to set that first. then even after a few attempts to boot it goes to defult.

to the OP:
redo the memmory
redo the fan
make sure the cpu is even in correctly
make sure the motherboard takes that memmory/cpu
see if cpu and mem work in a diffrent machine (if possible)
if all those fail get an RMA.

thanks everyone....appreciate the help. It seems just bumped one of my sticks of ram....everything is great now!
