Hi, I have a Sony Vaio F-420 that has a non-removable internal CD rom drive. Now I am in desperate need to put in a internal DVD drive in place of the CD rom drive. I was wondering if anyone knows it's doable or not? On ebay, some internal DVD drive say they are universal and as long as it fits it work. Does anyone know how to add one in?

Thanks in advance

All modern CD/DVD-Roms use a standard interface, however the plastic on the end of the tray may not match the rest of your laptop. Also, if you are looking to play DVD movies you need to pay attention to what video chip you have. I think a lot of the sonys use the "neo-tragic" chip which has no DVD decoding capabilities. You must use a decoder card with that video chip.
