Please help? my ps2's gone mad!

Help! Whenever i on my ps2 a screen appears with the options browser and system configuration. even if i insert a cd the same thing comes again. How do i play a game then? Please help? how do i get it off?

did you mod it in anyway?

did you put the cd up the write way?

did you try to put a real game inside of it?
ps2 and ps1

Sounds like the lens is getting dirty - have you tried using one of those cleaning kits for it?

i don't know? i had kept it packed for about 2 months. and when i opened it today that was what i got.
