Before i moved house, my computer was woking fine. but after......
Let's cut the crap, here is the spec/problem:
Duron 600 ( 6 x 100 )
K7T Pro Version 1
PQI PC133 128 Mb
Savage 4 Pro 32Mb
Seagate 20 Gb 7200 Rpm 2mb
Sony 52x CD Rom
NEC ( I think it is NEC i am not sure ) 8, 4, 24 CD-R
SoundBlaster Live Value!
Bufallo Lan Card
a CPU fan that i brought it for $70 ( which is very crap, i think )
and a Power Supply that came with my computer case for $230

I brought my PC about 1.5 years ago.

1. My computer would not start up ( the screen is black ), i check the code on the built in debug card ( 00000, all red ) , which means either dischange battery or damage CPU.

2. I brought a Duron 1.2 Ghz ( the sales told me that my motherboard does not support TB with 200/266 FSB ) and fit it in, my computer boot up and works fine. Since i want to plug in my lan card and a old hard disk, so i turn off my computer.

3. I plug in both, but the computer will not start up AGAIN!! just like before, I plug in another debug card to check, it shows "FF". Although i have lost my instruction booklet, i check over the internet for other simliar card's instruction, and FF means "Boot attempt (INT 19h)".

4. I don't understand what it means, and the onboard debug card shows once again all red. I try unplug the hard disk and Lan card. And the computer Boot up again!!! But in the middle of booting up Window Me, it stoped again. The debug card shows FF, and the onboard one i think is untrustable.

So what is the problem?? Could it be because of my crappy power supply??

Im leaning towards a crapped out power supply. But, check the power supply for dust bunnies, maybe its clogged up the fan and is overheating.

That doesn't mean you couldn't have bought the older t-bird running on the slower bus. That sales guy was an ass. If the Duron works so will a t-bird.

On to the subject at hand. Try reseating everything and taking out what you don't need. If it then starts up try replacing your components one at a time, and if a component stops it from booting, you either 1. have a weak power supply 2. have a bad component 3. Component may be incompatible with your system for some reason. Other than that you are going to have to check each component in another system if possible.

How do i check for dust bunnies in the power supply?? do i just deassemable the power supply??

< do i just deassemable the power supply?? >

NO!!!! This can be very dangerous as a power supply can hold a powerful charge for sometime after...just take out of case and look through vents and try to gently blow any dust out...ONly heavy build up will cause any real problems and this should be evident quite easily....

I would try a new power supply....I power supply you bought for a 600mhz duron a year ago is most lekely insufficient for a 1.2ghz duron...You should look at top quality 300watt ps or greater....

MOst likely the early issue was a power supply craping out and now it just can't give the juice. hence it runs fine with cpu and limited peripherals. Add peripherals and no go!!! seems a bit evident here.
