My CPU- System Rigs-
1. AMD Phenom II x2 550 B.E 3.10 Ghz Processor
2. Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H Motherboard
3. 4 GB (2x2) Kingston DDR2 800Mhz RAM
4. 1 TB Western Digital Hard Drive
5. MSI Radeon HD4890 OC Edition 1GB Graphics Card @880/3996 mhz clock
6. CoolerMaster Exterme Power Plus 650W PSU

& now i want to add 4GB (2x2gb) more RAM..but now i m in a dilemma whether to stick with DDR2's or to sell my motherboard for a DDR3 compatible motherboard for DDR3 RAMs. & to clear this dilemma.. cud anyone please tell me how much is the peformance difference b/w DDR2 800mhz & DDR3 1066Mhz RAM..? becoz my future upgrades are dependent on this single question now..

Just curious, why do you want to upgrade to 8GB of RAM?

well i built that PC just for gaming purpose.. & now my main future upgradation plans are- AMD Phenom 2 x6 1100t & Nvidia Geforce GTX 560..so ill do that slowly & the starting is to upgrade RAM 1st.. so dats y m in a freakin doubt b/w DDR2 & DDR3. If the performance difference will be more, then ill wait & then go with DDR3 other ill stick with DDR2 & upgrade to 4GB more, so please someone clear this doubt of mine asap.. :\..:(..!

Saib, in your case I would upgrade the CPU or video card before the RAM. I know it will cost more, but you won't see much, if any, improvement going from 4 to 8 GB ram.

so according to you, is 4GB enough at this time..? & rather than upgrading RAM, i should upgrade my Processor & Graphics Card ? & yeaa are you sure that there will be not much difference b/w 4GB & 8GB in pc..? what abt DDR2 & DRR3 performance difference? is there a noticable difference in those 2?

Yes, that's what I just said. Upgrading to DDR3 will be very small difference, you won't be able to tell unless you are benching.

No Saib, based upon what you said, upgrading to 8GB of RAM is just unnecessary and a waste of money.

hmmm.. well recently i installed The Witcher 2, Saints ROW 3, Battlefield 3 & now NFS the Run, & except Saints Row 3, none of them is running smoothly on high, had to reduce the display settings to medium, resolution to 1600x900 to make them run smoother, the worst dissapointings are BF3 & NFS the Run which really blowed my mind off & made me realised that now its time to spend for some new upgradation. so i thought why not to start from upgrading RAM which could maybe make them run a lil smooth, but as per ur opinion, i dont think this will goin to help even a bit also till i upgrade my processor & graphics card..m i correct pal?

Nope. Won't help with those issues, not even a little bit. Your cpu memory controller is what accesses the RAM, for single gaming you have enough "space" of memory with 4GB, it's not the RAM size that's causing the performance slowdown. Either your CPU or GPU are bottlenecking, sounds like it may be a little of both.

In any case, recommend you post your specs and issues in the "Video Cards" section.
