I upgraded to the ECS K7VZA yesterday, without too many problems. Though when I run SiSoft Sandra benchmarks, my IBM 60GXP 40GB performs terrible! Not only did the test take forever to run but it returned a score of 1831 (I think). I went into the device manager and pulled up properties for the "Primary IDE Channel." Device Manager reports that PIO transfer mode is being used, isn't DMA mode the one that should be used? Oh well, I could be wrong about that but I still don't understand why my scores are so low. Here is my system, to give you a better idea of where I am coming from:
Duron 650
ECS K7VZA rev.3
Crucial PC133 128MB x 2
IBM 60GXP 40GB
Liteon 12x10x32 CD-RW
Inno3D Geforce2 MX 32MB
Generic 56k Modem
SB Live! Value
I am running Windows 2000 Pro. Please help me... Thanks
Also, my boots times with my old board use to be around 45 seconds... Now my boot time is 1 min. 30 sec. with the ECS board. And one last thing, during startup, the dual boot menu comes up asking me if I want to boot into Windows 2000 or Unidentified Operating System. I don't understand where Unidentified Oper. Sys. came from. I did a format and clean install of Win2K earlier today. Is there a menu or something where I can delete the other choice? hehe, thanks again
