My grandpa spends his life playing checkers on the MSN gaming zone. He can no longer sign in to msn passport because it says his browser does not have cookies enabeled. Well, they are enabled. I've dropped cookies and security so low on this thing peple are probably looking through his hard drive on accident. I've tried three different versions of IE explorer from the newest back to 5.o something. Why is it saying cookies aren't enabled? I even DLed netscape navigator but the game zone won't let you in if you use netscape. This shouldn't even be a problem, could it be a virus or something?

Is he using any pop-up blocker? I've used WebWasher and Proximitron and they both can block cookies. Otherwise, might look at firewall, proxies, etc...

I have the exact same problem when trying to log into the Zone, but I don't know why. Bump for ya cause I'd love to find out why.

FYI, I dont have any Ad-blockers running in the background...

Are you using the defaut or advanced cookie settings? (IE6)
Do you have MSN blocked in the "Restricted Sites Zone"?

I have enabled cookies under advanced options, and MSN is not listed under the blocked sites.

The wierd thing is that it doesn't happen all the time.

Did you try manually deleting all his cookies? Checking the registry for the site in question? Forcing a refresh (Shift+Refresh or Ctrl+Refresh, I forget which)?

Otherwise I'm not sure what would be doing it. Most likely when a setting becomes borked it has to do with something in the registry -- most likely hkey_current_user/software/microsoft/internet explorer OR hkey_local_machine/software/microsoft/internet explorer

Well, thanks for the suggestions and replies. I have tried everyhting that was mentioned short of looking in the registry. I think I'll just wip it clean and reinstall windows on it. Just have to pick a copy of 98 now.
