Hi everyone,

Can anyone recommend a good performance and stable P3 mobo? My old DELL Dimension just die and I need a new mobo + cpu combo. My budget is approx $300 max. Any kind of help is greatly appreciated.

asus p3b-f is a great PIII mobo

take the cost of one of those , subtract from 300, and whatever's left can most likely buy a 700 mghz + PIII

I don't know. I've explained to him that Athlon may be his best bed. However he decide to stick with P3, since P4 will be out of date soon. He is an Intel believer, I think. Or, he might be conservative and scare to move away from a different architecture. Other thing is he also might need the SSE support for his video editing software (Media Studio Pro 6.0) which is optimized for SSE.

If you are sticking with the P3 get yourself a Asus CUSL2 or CUSL2-C motherboard. Have have a CUSL2-C on my secondary rig and it is great, stable, fast and a great overclocker.

You should be able to get a NIB CUSL2-C mobo and a P3 700E o/c 933 or 1ghz(from compuwiz1) for under $300

Another vote for the Asus CUSL2. I also have it in my secondary rig, my primary is now an AMD :)

I have heard that DELL uses a proprietary power connector, but I keep forgetting to take a look when I have one popped open at work.
