Hi, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post.
Anyway, I was hoping for some opinions from others more knowledgable than myself could give me a few ideas as to what to do with a problem I've been having.
So, I recently put together a system, here's the specs:
MB: Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R
CPU: Intel e4300 1.8ghz
RAM: Patriot Extreme Edition 2 x 1 gb PC6400
HDD: 2 x 160gb WD SATA II
PSU: Enermax Noisetaker II 485W
MB, CPU, & RAM brand new, retail versions. HDDs Brand new OEM, and PSU was a retail version used 6 months in a previous system I built.
Night 1.
Okay, so, the system was put together, raid drivers installed, and then windows xp. Then the motherboard drivers, and two instances of Prime95 (one on each core) were run for 8 hours, and then a brief session w/ CPU Mark (score 5800). End of Night 1.
Night 2.
I installed MSN, Winamp, and three other games, all of which, worked just fine.
Then I proceed to install gigabyte's software applications, @BIOS, iCool, FaceWizard, and EasyTune5. @Bios was updated, and then using the updated program, I updated my MB Bios. System was restarted twice, because I'm paraniod like that. I then proceeded to play Shattered Galaxy into the wee hours of the morning.
Night 3.
Came home from work, and tried to turn on the computer. It booted up slowly, and then died, as if the power was cut. There's no time for it to POST because it turns off. The MB restarts itself again, only to be shut down again. This vicious cycle continues until I flipped the switch at the back of the PSU.
After multiple attempts, I unplugged DVD-rom & HDDs, from the MB, same thing. I don't have another PSU to test, but I did try unplugging the 24/28 pin from the MB, and then connected the green cable pin to a black cable pin, and the PSU ran fine.
I've tried remounting the ram, clearing CMOS, and pulling the battery out, but it doesn't seem to change anything. I'm at a bit of a loss, and would appreciate any input.
