Allright, I?m having problems getting my Supra 56K V.90 modem to work in Windows XP. I used to have a cable modem so that?s why I hadn?t known that it didn?t work. It has an IRQ conflict. The modem, COM 1, and COM 2 all want to use IRQ 3. I had to disable COM1 and COM2 and just leave the modem on just so I could connect. But it always doesn?t work. I get a hardware failure error sometimes when I try to dial my ISP. So I guess I gotta set my IRQs manually but I dunno how. Well, this is how it looks right now:

IRQ 3 is used by COM2
IRQ 4 is used by COM1
IRQ 5 is used by LPT2
IRQ 7 is used by LPT1
IRQ 8 is used by RTC Alarm.
IRQ 9 says IRQ Redirect
IRQ 10 is reserved
IRQ 11 is reserved
IRQ12 is used by the PS2 port
IRQ 14 is used by the hard drive
IRQ 15 is reserved

So which IRQ should I make the modem use? Or should I just leave both my COM ports disabled? Pleaaaaaase help!

RydinDirty: To elaborate on Mitzi's advice, enable Com 1 and Com 2 in your bios. Then, in Device Manager, uninstall the two Com ports and the modem. Reboot and let WinXP automatically assign IRQ's to all three. You should be good to go.

Yeah, sorry - I didn't explain that very well.

If you still have problems after following Dans advice, let us know.

Good luck :)
