PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I put up a Quake III server and nobody can connect to it. ANy suggestions????

Assuming the network works fine any other way, are you running a firewall on the server? If so have you opened the ports needed for Q3A? I don't remember which ports Q3A uses at the moment, but it says in the help files if I don't remember wrong...

No firewalls are running, it is a fresh copy of windows 2000.

OK, with the most obvious thing out of the way, some more information would be nice. All other network functionality is in order? The machines can all ping eachother? filesharing works between all the machines? If you have a network printer does that work for all the machines?

Need some more information before I can even start to guess what's wrong

If networking is fine, check the other obvious things. Do you have a map running? There is no map running when you just start the server. Also, if a map is running, do clients start to connect then immediately disconnect? If that is the case, make sure everyone is using the same point release. Also, if clients have seperate pak files that they use, you need to set sv_pure 0. Hope that helps.

make sure you have it as a dedicated 2 server and not a dedicated 1 server.

are they trying you IP directly or are you assuming no one can connect?
