I'm sure you must be kidding. Gave you a ticket and let you drive away? Surely not.
In any case, in such instances a lawyer is always a must if for no other reason than you may just get lucky.
When I was in the Marine Corps I used to have to go to court with my guys whenever they got in trouble and had to go to court in town.
I had a guy driving drunk who left the road in his VW. An EMS guy stopped and asked him if he needed help getting his car out of the ditch. My guy had a way of letting his mouth get him in trouble. He cussed the EMS guy out. Once my guy got his car out of ditch, EMS guy follows him and reports him to State Police. State Police guy comes out and cites my guy for DWI. My guy gets a lawyer. First time to court, State Trooper doesn't show so the prosecution gets case continued. Second time to court, EMS guy doesn't show, so prosecution gets case continued. Third time to court, State Trooper doesn't show again 'cause he's working a NASCAR race in Charlotte. Case dismissed 'cause the prosecution can't get another continuance.
My second guy got luckier. Cited for speeding, DWI, and under-age drinking. Prosecution calls arresting officer to stand. He states that he had my guy stand on one leg for so many seconds and he states how many times my guy drops his foot to the ground during first ten seconds and last ten seconds and whatever else. Same with other leg. He then testifies that he had my guy walk an imaginary line so many paces out and back and he states how many times my guy steps off the line. When my guy's lawyer questions the officer, the conversation goes like this:
Lawyer: Officer Smith, you state that Mr. Wyatt stepped off the line so-and-so many times going out and so-and-so many times
coming back, is that right?
Officer: Yes
Lawyer: But you stated you had him walk an imaginary line. How do you know Mr. Wyatt was imagining the same line that you
were?
At that time the whole thing ended and my guy walks away with nothing but a speeding ticket. Never mind he blew a .09 and he was no doubt under-age, all he got was a speeding ticket.
If you are serious, get a lawyer. I do hope you're joking.
