well, does a password exist? if you don't know it, just search for *.pwl files on your hard drive, rename them .old, and then reboot..it should ask for a user and pass again, and this time you put in a new name , and leave the password BLANK, if you put in a blank password, it won't ask you for it again.

if you DO know the password, then put it in and go into the control panel under the password option (i thint it exists) and change it to a blank password.

Well, it actually depends on what the logon client is. If it is set to Client for Microsoft Networking, it will ask you everytime regardless of whether or not you have a password, if it is set to Microsoft Family Logon it shoulnd't ask for a password, even though sometimes it still will. Here is what you want to do:

1.) Go to Start, Settings, and open the Control Panel.

2.) Open up the Networking icon.

3.) Set Primary Network Logon to Windows Logon.

You should be all set once you choose ok, Windows may want your CD to copy some files for no reason, so unless you have the .cab files on your disk be prepared with the cd (even though usually, but not always, you can click skip to all that crap).

I'm gonna try it! I used to have it set up so my friend could log on with her own settings. She needed custom settings because she has vision problems. She doesn't use my computer anymore so I deleted her as a user. Now, every time I start my computer I have to close/cancel the box where I'm supposed to choose a user. There are no users to choose, of course. It's been driving me insane!

ok, that didn't work. I'm still getting the box asking me to choose a nonexistant user. I still have to push cancel or close in order to start up. Any other ideas? Thanks!

With Windows 95, I believed the password profile is store under password or users in control panel. Try to go there and delete the unwanted user off the listing.

Also, in Passwords under the control panel, on the Profiles tab, set it so everyone shares the same profile.

Supergax-
Thanks, it worked. I kept going into Users before and there was nothing I could do. I was completely ignoring Passwords.
Thanks Everyone
