Please help me with my project

Does the $1000 budget need to cover software (OS, antivirus, games, etc)? Do you have any stuff you'll be re-using (monitor, keyboard, optical or hard drives, etc)?
 
I have all peripherals and software. Just no guts. I would say For this $1000 I expect to be upgrading my computer later on with more stuff. I really just need a quick system with great graphix and ok sound.

Later on I will get MORE of the fast RAM/ROM and better sound card. I would also like to get a zip drive and put in multiple HD's.
