please help me with my monitor!!!

Hi guys , I just moved and have a problem with my monitor. I own a optiquest (viewsonic) Q95 -2 monitor. This is my problem. at high refresh rates theere is flickering and also at some resoluntions (sucha s 800x600) the screen waves slightly like a ocean wave. I know its not my video card and have narrowed the poroblem down to the monitor itself ... perhaps a setting that I dont know about ect. i would appreciate any ideas on what might be causeing this problem. BTW it displays fine in windows at 1024x768 at 60Hz (one of the few resolution refresh rate combos that seems stable) but not at 70 Hz ect ect. please help a n00b out 🙂 thank you too all that reply
 
Im not sure if this will help, but try plugging the monitor into a different power outlet. When I have too many things plugged into the same outlet my montior starts getting wavy lines on it, but thats it.
