I am trying to install Mandrake 8.2 on my computer. Everything goes alright until X windows tries to load. Then My screen just went black and shuts off signal to the Monitor

How comfortable are you with editing config files?
If you are open up /etc/X11//XF86Config and scroll down to the section labeled "Device".
Look for the entry Driver and next to it should be an entry in quotes. Remove that entry and type "radeon" exactly.
Check the video ram section and make sure it reflects the 64M of ram you've got.
Save the file, startx.

I edited the XF86Config file and have the same problem

Still need Help Please

This thing is driving me Crazy. But I am learning new stuff.

Try running xfree86config or a similar program.

PS if you are stuck in text mode and need help Lynx is a good text browser for the internet. I use it quite often.

Check your video resolution. It may be set to 1600x1200 and your monitor can't handle it. Try 640x480 first and go from there.
