Please help me with Mandrake 8.1

I tried to install Mandrake 8.1 on my second drive. The install went fine, or seemed to. When I restarted at the end on boot up I choose Linux in the LILO screen and the got a quick glimpse of a black screen that kept looping for about 1 minute and at the end it said something like ( X respawning to fast ) What the hell does this mean ?

It means something broke. Try setting init level to 3(?) and go into console and reconfigure/restart X from there.
