Ok, I bought my 2405 a few months ago and things were ok up until a couple weeks ago when I would get random freezes and then when I had to restart my mobo would beep slowly then stop, then slow beep then stop, but it wouldnt post at all. I found out that I could just unplug the usb from the 2405 going into the tower and it would normally post on the next try then I would just plug the usb back in. This continued for a couple weeks until this last Fri when it happened again and I had to repeat the process a few times but I would still get the beeps from the mobo and after unplugging the monitor it still wouldnt post until finally it did only to give me and error something to the effect of "system32 file has been corrupt or is missing" so now it wouldnt even post into windows no matter what I would do.

So anyway I did some digging on the windows knowledge base site on my PDA and found a solution to the problem, but after trying that in the windows xp repair console it got me to the welcome to windows screen and then I would get a new error. Anyway, now I reformatted and I have a fresh copy of XP in there right now but after installing the vid drivers and basics its rebooting at random moments (its only happened twice now, but its happened) and then it hangs on the Abit post screen)

Does this still have anything to do with the monitor and the usb hub? Or am I way off?

Do you have another monitor you can plug in just to confirm that the problems disappear? I think the 2405 has a built-in USB hub. Maybe something has gone wrong with yours.

The monitor is cabled into the USB port on your system. If you leave the monitor attached to the gfx card, but unplug the USB cable, do the problems go away?
