With so many different brands of MB out there on the market, I am just confused which one I should buy. I am building a home server. I would like to use AMD cpu as is usually provides better performance/price ratio. I don't need the fastest CPU so I don't need to pay the extra dollars for the latest model.

Given the above requirment, can someone please point me on which CPU and motherboard I should pick? And possibly a good place to buy it?

Thanks!

I dont know about the whole server thing but i have had great results from using the Asus A7N8X Deluxe, stacked full of extra features, DDR up to 3200 and 3GB of it, Dual Channel DDR, Dual Lan USB 2.0 AGP 8x.

Why not pick up an a7x8x-x if you don't need fireware, s-ata etc? Plus which you can get an xp 2400+ SOO cheap right now or if you want a higher fsb, hop to newegg and they have a nice barton or too just calling to you. This board will accept newer/higher memory too, but remember if you're not overclocking the fsb of your processor will limit you
