Hi, this burner is on an abit kt7a mobo and has been working fine for the last two months or so and then the other day it went nuts. The only thing that I have changed is that I put a 300w enermax psu in the comp the other day. What the burner does is that when I boot up the led flashes on the front panel and it does'nt stop all the way through boot up. The cd tray won't open up at all or do anything. I thought that since the led was lit that I should be getting power and it should open the tray. The bios shows the drive and inside windows it is detected but the thing will not open the tray and the led just continuously flashes. I tried flashing the firmware and it will work(makes the drive function like it should) until I do a cold boot and it happens all over again. I have a dvd drive running master and this drive is on slave(I have switched these and it does the same thing). I also have tried different cables and it does'nt work either. I would appreciate any help because this is driving me bonkers.

Did you try it on the other IDE channel (Primary instead of secondary) not that that will do anything, I jsut had to ask. When you try to open the tray within the OS does it open then? Sounds like you might have a damaged CD-RW, but I am not sure how that might have happened.

Yes, I have tried both channels on the motherboard and it still does'nt open. When I try to open the tray in windows it does nothing and just sits their with the led flashing. What I don't understand is that if I flash the firmware in windows(while led blinking) it will work as long as I don't shut the comp down and let it sit for a couple of hours. After it sits(with psu turned off by switch on the housing) it will go right back to flashing when I boot up. Thanks for help

I put the old power supply back in, flashed the bios, and installed a new IDE driver(via) and none of these have cured the problem. I think it is time for RMA, what do you think?????
