I have a small business that runs an exhange 2000 server. it is used for internel use only.
their location has roadrunner (cable) internet access and a static IP address.

we currently have their website and email hosted w/ a 3rd party.

I want to enable the exchange server to collect their outside email for their users and I already have it setup to send to outside mail boxes.

should I register a seperate domain and point it to the ip address? I don'r want to confuse customers who start seeing 2 different doamin names in emails.

is their a way to setup exchange to connect to my exteranl pop/smtp server to send and recieve mail?

If I'm understanding this right, you want to use the Exchange server to host the local e-mail, but you want the actual sending/receiving to happen on the ISPs mail servers?

If that's what you're looking for, then I think you need to use a POP connector for Exchange which will go out and grab the messages and put them in the correct mailboxes for you. Does that sound right?
