Please help me remove the splinter from my brain...(solved?)

I've had this splinter in my brain for awhile now, maybe you all can help.  I think it's a quote from some movie (more than likely, one that's been on Dishnetwork the last couple of months over and over)...but I think someone like, dies or runs away or something, and one guy says to the other guy "...sorry about [the guy who died/left/whatever]...he was a dude".

I can hear the "he was a dude" over and over in my head.  What's that from? Seriously. I'm dyin' here.

I'm serious...it's like, on the tip of my tongue! The guy says "yeah...he was a dude". Like being a dude is something to be proud of or something. Like it's some exclusive club (like the Marines, or the Goonies or something).

HELP!

I doubt it, since I've never seen that. And it's not from Big Lebowski (I'm pretty sure, given that I've seent hat movie thousands of times) or Fast times at Ridgemont High either.

HELP! PLEEEEEEEEEEESE!
