***PLEASE HELP ME RECOVER FILES

Ok, I am so stupid. I sent a file from school to my email so I could work on it at home. When I got home, I downloaded it (but did not save it, just pressed "open") and then worked on it for a few hours, forgetting that I did not actually save it. Now it is gone. Was it a temp file or something? How can I recover it?

Please help me... I am soo screwed.

What app were you using? Word should have saved it in the temp dir. or in the temp dir that your email client uses.

Ok, I just got this extension called CacheViewer which shows all the files in cache. I found the file for my powerpoint, but when i opened it, it was the original version from my email, not the one i worked on and saved (or at least, pressed the save button... apparently it didnt save it.)
