Please help me picking the right Memory!

I am going to build a Athlon 64 939 chip set system. I really would like to use 2GB of RAM. I have heard that using all 4 slots for memory is not a good idea. So I was planning on using 2 1GB sticks. But I see that the 1GB sticks are higher in latency settings (3-4-4-8) compared to 512MB sticks. What I am really trying to find out is in real world performence would I see a BIG differents in performence when using something like latency settings (3-4-4-8) VS 2-2-2-5? I do not plan on over clocking at all. I know some of you will say you don't need 2GB of RAM but I like to plan for the future. And can anoyone really make a good point why running 2GB is a big waist?

Thanks

It really depends on what you are using the system for.

If you are going to be doing a lot of audio/video encoding, or running programs like auto cad, then 2GB would be perfect.

On the other hand if all you want to do is play games, then 1 GB is really all you need right now. It will probably be another year or so before 2 GB of RAM will see decent improvements in games over 1GB.

Thats my understanding at least, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
