After wearing my current headset for an extended period of time it makes my ears hurt. I find myself taking the headset off and putting it around my neck after about an hour of use. This kinda defeats the purpose of a headset when I can't stand to use it and resort to turning my speakers back on.

I currently have Altec Lansing .

I am using a X-FI platinum soundcard. I am many going to use it for gaming, most music will be enjoyed through my z-5500's. Size is not important. Sound quality and comfort are the primary criteria. I prefer 3.5mm btw.

If there is a roundup review of headsets at a tech site that would be helpful too.

Any suggestions? Price insn't an issue as much as quality would be.

I have this, Plantronics DSP 500

Link

The sounds quality is awesome, and i can wear it all day and its still comfy, cost me £50

Only downside is that its USB , so it cant be used with Stereos, Mp3 players etc

Edit: Just noticed you prefered 3.5mm,

this is the greatest headphone resource you'll ever find: Head-Fi

Go there.

As for recommendations...go with a Sennheiser HD580 - HD595

I've heard good things about Senhennsier's HD 280s, 580s, and 590s. Just ordered the 280 myself.
