Well, my son got a Compaq 2410US with a Turion 1.6, 80 gig HD, DVD dual-layer burner, 512 meg memory for $750 AR. kamranziadar, that means you are high on your price.

But the Compaq V2410US is the model I recommend. Lately I have seen it for $850 AR.

Well your son had 512MB ram, second of all it was AR which you don;t get at all. Well i made him the offer, if he wants he will let me know. I bought it for $1000 from compaq, this is the best laptop i have ever seen bright screen, light weight only 5 pound, with all the conectivity ports, and etc.

IF you want a GOOD laptop...... IBM Thinkpad T42 + Radeon 9600 for the win...

Would you kindly post the model #'s of the two choices you have? There's MUCH more to consider when picking the right laptop than just the CPU and Video Card/Chipset.

Well considering that you could have gotten an HP V2000Z for 550 shipped after rebate taxed with the staples coupon at OD with a 1.6 turion (only 50 bucks to upgrade)/Wireless/ and 12 cell battery, and 40 gig HD. THen, with the best buy free kingston ram with coupons you basically get your laptop for 550 after rebates and coupons. I don't feel bad at all crapping that deal becuase this isn't FS/FT and your trying to rip this poor guy off.

BTW, I would def go with sempron. Its battery life is amazing. I have the sempron on my V2000Z(I got for 450 with 12 cell battery after rebates tax shipping with coupon) and I get around 5-6 hours of battery life with wireless on surfing the web but screen turned down to a dim. THe performance is good enough for a laptop. THe celeron battery life will be CRAP

Yes, the Celeron M will burn through your battery pretty fast (it lacks EIST).
