Please help me out with motherboard decision!!! ~~Urgent~~

*EDIT* to avoid an OS re-install, I'm just going to Frys for another k7s5a. Maybe 4th time's a charm.

Ok. Of all the times for my second computer to die, it just did. I desperately need to get a system up and running right now, so I need to figure out what I should get. I've lost 3 k7s5as in the past few months, so that's out. I'm inclined to switch back to Intel since I've had so many AMD systems die recently. However, I need to find a good deal in town so I can go get it right now.

Please post what you think would be a good but inexpensive combo for me. I'm in Phoenix, so my options are CompUSA, Best Buy, Fry's, Office Max, and Staples.

Requirements:
1. STABLE
2. Must be able to pick up localy today
3. STABLE
4. Inexpensive
5. STABLE
6. I have a case, video, etc, so I just need a mobo, proc, and ram if I can't re-use my DDR 2100.

Thanks for any help. I am seriously DESPERATE!!!

i would suggest going to fry's and buying one of their bundles if you need a CPU as well. if not, they probably still have better mobo prices than the other stores.

Epox is a good brand, always been stable for me. I have an ep-8k5a2+, although, I don;t know if you can get that at those B&M's.

that's either really bad luck, or you are doing some stupid things to your hardware. how do you lose 3 motherboards in a few months? Anyway, i've been using Asus boards for a while now with no real problems.

Just buy pre-built. Its much simpler, you're covered by a manufacturer warranty, and no assembly. Many pre-builts have no agp vid card, so just sell your case/ps....plug in a vid card and you're all set to go.

I wish I knew. I do nothing other than run them 24/7. No oc, few reboots, nothing exciting. It just starts internittantly crashing and corrupting network transfers. That's what I notcie first. Then it goes downhill from there. The current one is crashing every time I try to run something. I try to re-install the OS, and it keeps coming back with corrupt files off known good media. Then I'll replace the mobo, and it works great again.

Did these mobos go in a brand new case or an old one? Sounds like maybe the power supply is defective if 3 boards crapped out on you (or maybe you didn't install them right, beats me)

I'd look at a dell, but I need this within an hour or two. That limits my choices.

At this point, I'll probably just run to Fry's. Any advice on what boards to look for or avoid? Anyone have a good STABLE AMD system? What mobo you using?

Exactly. That's the only way IMO.

i'm running an xp1600+ in a soyo dragon lite and have never had a problem with stability (and it's overclocked).

*edit* like someone else said, do you think your powersupply could be dying on you? or maybe it's not enough for your rig?

Tried 3 cases, including one brand new one. PS was the first thing I suspected. The boards ran for ~4 or 5 months, so I doubt my install. It's possible, but I was a PC tech before I moved up to network design, so I still know my way around the inside of a case. I just don't like haveing to go there.

Anyone know of any current deals in stores? I'll hit the Hot Deals section too, but I gotta head out within the 1/2 hour to get this.

Thanks

To clarify, these were in 2 different systems. The first died a few months ago, and I replaced it with the same. The second system died a few weeks ago, and I haven't replaced it yet. The third(replacement for the first) just died over the past few days.
