I have 500-600 dollars to spend on CPU+MB+RAM

I don't care AMD or Intel, I would like it to be max 600 dollars with shipping and fans and all that stuff.

The PC will be used for my work (software development) and gaming. So i'll probably need 1gig of ram??

I have a geforce3 TI200 that I am going to use now and upgrade later when Doom3 and HL2 come out.

Thanks a lot

$500 will get you a hell some nice hardware. Athlon 64 is probably the way to go if you have that much money to spend.

Can you give me any suggestions as like what CPU speed, what type of ram i need? (Do I need DDR 3200 or 3400)? And a good motherboard? Sorry I have not kept up with current hardware.

Ok this is what I have picked out.

What ram should I get, do I need dual channel?

Motherboard: ABIT K8T800 ($139)
Proccessor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ RETAIL ($282)

I have about 150-180 dollars left for ram.

Essentially, you're asking for the same info you'll find by searching the CPU and Motherboard forums, here and reviews, here an on other sites. Do some of your own homework, first. Then, come back and ask questions about specific items and issues.

Not a flame, just a suggestion to help you get quicker answers. :)
