I have a brand new system running w2k and office xp. Whenever in MS word my mouse cursor would disappear in the text area and reappear in the tool bar area... it is annoying the heck out of me..

I have remove the mouse and reinstall the mouse in safe mode thinking it might be driver problem but it would work for like a minute and the problem comes back..

A little more mouse info would help. What kind of MS Mouse - Intellipoint, optical, ball, scroller, PS/2, Serial, wireless, or USB?

It could be the wrong driver for the specific mouse. Can you try a different mouse?
 
Hmm..I have this problem occasionally, ps/2 microsoft wheel mouse here. You might try reinstalling MS Office, it doesn't seem like it'd be a problem with the mouse if it just disappears in the text area of word and is fine everywhere else.
 
A mouse with a scroller uses different drivers than a plain mouse. MS Office may be sensitive to that. Try the Intellipoint drivers from Microsoft. They are for scroller mice.
