ok, this is driving me nuts! I have a 1.2ghz AMD Athlon, 256MB pc-133 RAM and for some reason my computer goes slow. I have don't have a lot of stuff running, I have only Norton Anti-Virus and Personal Firewall running on the taskbar. It was going fast and all and then it started going slow. Then I formatted my partitions and re-installed Windows XP. Then it was running fine. Now it's back to going slow. My resources before were reading in the system information as, 256MB Total Physical Memory Available - 140MB or higher Avalable. Now it's once again at only 109MB or 110MB, sometimes less. Can someone help with my problem? It's driving me bonkers!!!!

That does not sound like a memory problem, it sounds like you have a program running in the backround.

hit alt-ctrl-del and list the programs running, and what % CPU they aer using for us.

well, they are the same programs as were running before, nothing new. My cpu usage % is at 2% to 4%. It just doesn't make sense to me... it was perfectly working last week, and all of a sudden this. and any new programs since then I have un-installed. :(

Make sure your actually running at the right speed.
I've had some BIOS's reset themselves to a lower speed for the processor
if they encounter any problems.

I'm running t what the processor is - 1.2GHz. Will having three partitions on the same drive do it? It still doesn't make sense though. 'Cause it WAS working perfectly and then all of a sudden it just didn't. I've always had those partitions there. When it was doing it before, I had Windows ME, and then it started acting up. I ended up deleting all the partitions and re-formatting the drive and doing a fresh install of XP and it was fine. Until now...

Is it poss the progs you uninstalled aren't completely uninstalled? I've known progs to run w/o being seen in the ctrl/alt/del or task manager
