please help me get back to win2k which i love sooo much =(

ok to cut this thing short i messed up win2k setting and my mouse and keyboard won't work in windows (i can only get as far as the log on screen... but the keyboard won't function =\ )
to make it work again i think i need to either:
1)get into windows then it will auto detect
2)install the software (logitech) in DOS, which i don't know how to get there at setup screen
3)maybe re-install win2k

if i reinstall win2k will i lose the previous settings/files etc?

so then i have a paper due so i installed Win XP Pro
now all my desktop icons are gone, shows no programs installed in XP, and some programs won't run even if i go into MY COMPUTER and execute it.
needless to say i missed my old settings!

so please tell me how to do the following:
1) make the keyboard work again in win2k and completely un-install WIN XP (i don't really like it)
or
2) transfer all the settings and programs onto WIn XP. i saw this option to transfer from one computer to another but i don't know how to transfer all the stuff from the same computer

please help me i missed my "old" computer

another lesson to "if it ain't broke don't even look at it =\

EDIT: after using XP for an hour i realized XP can be configured to be pretty much like win2k... i guess i'll stick with XP but how do i get my old settings back and possibly get rid of win2k?

thank you
