Please help me fix my laptop

Heres the story:
Dog chewed power cord, shorted something. Laptop still works but won't charge. I want to open it up to take a look. I have unscrewed all the visible screws but it still won't open. The laptop is a Compaq Satellite 3005-s304 if it matters...
Something at the hinge where the lcd meets the rest of the case seems to be holding it shut, does the lcd come off completely?

Any help/suggestions would be very much appreciated
