I was sent a nasty email from someone at yahoo and i want to know who and where it was sent from. Can this be done and how?
Thanks

look at the full headers on the email, find the 'received from ip xx.xx.xxx.xxx' and post it in a whois server like:

http://www.arin.net/whois/

that'll tell you (hopefully) what domain it was sent from....maybe you'll get lucky and recognize the company, university, etc and that will help you...

also, look up the yahoo name at profiles.yahoo.com/thename for hints (of course that's easily hidden or blank)

good luck

thanks WW

Based on the headers you sent me via PM, I can't see any IP info except for the Yahoo mail servers. I don't know where you can go with that.

Download this FREE utility for whois searches. Load all of the IP addresses in the search box, and you'll see they are all either Powweb mail or Yahoo mail servers.

(paste the IP addresses in the "Domain name or Word" box and click "Lookup".
