I have never been able to identify this song which I've only had the pleasure of hearing a few times. This is hard to describe so hang with me here while I give it my best shot, but I'm afraid I don't have much to go by. In fact, it's been so long since I last heard it I can't even hear it in my head unfortunately.

The song is definately a classical piece. It has these incredible sounding male singers who I'm guessing are singing in the Russian dialect. It is also a somewhat long song. The song is very uplifting at times and is one of those soul movers!

Does anyone have any idea as to what I'm reffering to?

Maybe your thinking of the Russian national anthem played at the beginning of the Hunt for Red October. If you search on napster, you can find the song title as Theme from the Hunt for Red October.

how about Soviet National Anthem by Russian Red Army Choir. This IMHO is (was) the best sounding national anthem in the word, and i'm not even russian ( i'm close though :) ).

Just checked it out, that's not it. It has a symphony playing music with it and the Russian anthem doesn't. The song I'm looking for is an incredibly moving and uplifting piece!
