Hey all..I would appreciate some help finding a motherboard and vid card to complete my system. I am upgrading from an AMD T-bird 1600 1.16ghz (i think that's what it is) with a ATI Radeon 9700Pro, and 512mbs of DDR. Here are the major parts I already have for my new rig which will be used for games, internet, dvd backup, music, and lite photoshop. I was going to build a high end comp to play the latest games at high res but I don't really need that at the moment. I will wait for DX10 hardware to be cheaper for my next upgrade. I would like to keep the MB/vid card combo around $300:

Alread have:
CPU AMD|A64 FX-55 2.6G 939 1M 90N
Cooler - AC Freezer 64 Pro
PS - Thermaltake Purepower 500W
Mem - OCZ PC3200 2 Gigs
Seagate 250 Gig 7200 RPM SATA
I have the basic stuff like KB,mouse, case, dvd drives, etc...

Would appreciate any help as I would like to get this done asap. I will probably not overclock unless someone can direct me to a guide where I can do this easily. Thanks!

A 7900GT can hold you over 'till DX10 develops. MSI and Gigabyte are some good budget board manufacturers, check one of them out with the features you need.

Also VGA and XFX are good brands... and yea 7900 gt should be ok... or an Ati x1900gt might be cheap enough these days... and pretty good performer

Does that DFI Ultra-D board have good onboard Audio and LAN? I would like to avoid buying a soundcard and LAN card.

Ok this is my new system...Please let me know if I am missing anything. I am also interested in giving overclocking a try... what is the best way to go about overclocking the cpu/mem/video card.

CPU AMD|A64 FX-55 2.6G 939 1M 90N
Cooler - AC Freezer 64 Pro
PS - Thermaltake Purepower 500W
Mem - OCZ PC3200 2 Gigs
Seagate 250 Gig 7200 RPM SATA
Dell 20" flat panel
EVGA 7900 GTO
DFI Ultra-D board with onboard sound and LAN
DVD drive
DVDRW Drive
Eclipse keyboard
Logitech G5 mouse
7 in 1 floppy drive
Thermaltake Mambo Case with exhaust fan
120mm intake fan
Windows XP
Anything missing? Also I do have a guide on how to put the thing together from about 4 years ago (last time I did this)...Does anyone have a link to a more up to date guide as well as a great Overclock guide for CPU and video card. Thanks so much!

I don't know about the DFI board. It looks like it is about $105. You could save some money and get an Asus A8N-E for $86. It is a solid performer (I have experience with these).

The Athlon 64 FX-55 will be easy to overclock since its multiplier is unlocked. Based on these forums, people have no trouble getting them clocked up to 3.0 GHz.
