I looked through the forum breifly and didn't see any other threads like this so I made my own. Basically I'm making a computer (A64 3000+, 9700 Pro, MSI KT8 NEO, 512 megs ram) and need a case/ps to go with it.

I've heard many a things about how important a power supply is so I'd like to get one that will be problem free. I'm aiming to spend under $100 and I'm definately looking to avoid fans with lights on them. Front usb would be a definate plus. Otherwise I'm not too picky. Thanks!

Antec makes a super case, with an excellent power supply. I would look at the Sonata or the Lanboy.

Tiger Direct has a yellow Chieftec Dragon for $29, Newegg has Aspire Turbo Case Series 500W 12V Yellow Aluminum Power Supply, Model "ATX-AS500W 12V" for $55.

Hard to beat the Antec SLK3700-AMB. Staples often has one of the better prices on it.

Staples price is $84. shipped, which is $1. more than newegg. But you will probably have to pay sales tax too. The nice thing is that your local store might stock it if you are in a good size city.

If you want a black case you could get the Antec SLK3700BQE. The PSU is supposed to be modified to be very quiet. Hence BQE (Black Quiet Edition). I bought mine with the PSU swapped for the Antec True430.

Yeah go with one of the Antec cases. 3700AMG, 3700BQE, SX635BII, or even 660AMG --- all include PSU and can be had for less than $100.

Other option includes just getting a nice case for under $60.00 and go with this PSU which works great -- currently sells for $42.00.

You basically described several offering by Antec. I'm biased towards the SLK3700-xxx and Sonata (same cases, different trimmings), but none of the mid-towers will dissappoint.

It's hard to beat an Antec case. I've been using the the SLK2600AMB for all of my budget systems lately and love it. I've tried to beat the price and features with other cases and I just can't do it. You figure that you'll probably spend $30-$40 for a cheap case with a cheap power supply (or no power supply) and the SLK2600AMB can be had for $50-$70 depending on the deal (I bought a few at $59 shipped no tax at Newegg). It's hard to justify not spending the extra few bucks to get something solid.

The only thing that I don't like is that I like building systems and building with the same case all the time gets a little boring. I wish Antec had another style or color that was similarly priced.
