I'm upgrading from my current 8800 GTS 640MB (G80), I'm very interested by the GTX 285 due to the reduced heat and decreased power consumption (that's the main point for me, I can deal with the heat honestly), and of course because the frequencies are higher on the GTX 285 (especially the shaders which I believe received a nice 200Mhz'ish bump). But... despite the technological and performance advantages of the GTX 285, I think it's still a little overpriced for the moment. I'm buying in Canada, and the very best prices I've seen so far are from DirectCanada.com...
I could buy that 280 now: http://www.directcanada.com/pr...024OCE&manufacture=BFG
Or wait next month and get that 285: http://www.directcanada.com/pr...5NZDFF&manufacture=XFX
The price difference is still more than $100. What should I do? What would YOU do? Is the GTX 280 really hot (I.E talking about heat here of course, lol)? Any known overheating issues? Its power draw turns me off really, but its price is more than convincing for the performance I get (compared to my current GTS which I paid around $450 back in summer 2006... dammit).
Thanks for your help.
