Alright, this is what I'm getting...

Intel 875P Chipset Motherboard for Intel Socket 478.

SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9600 Video Card, 256MB DDR, 128-bit.

Intel Pentium 4/ 2.8C GHz 800MHz FSB, 512K Cache, Hyper Threading Technology.

Kingston ValueRAM Dual Channel Kit 184 Pin 1G(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200.

Maxtor 160GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive.

Now what do I cool and with what?

(not planning on O/C)

Thank you to those who reply

:( @ the 9600 256 meg

you do know it has slower clockspeeds than the 128 meg dont you?

and if your not planning on overclocking, then get the stock heatsink.

I picked it because its cheap and it can run HL2 effectivly (I think) and the heat sink comes with the chip.

if its not even the pro, then it wont run it decently. and i would take the 128 meg without stupid ram sinks over the 256 anyday. the 256 is SLOWER than the 128. and upgrading for a game that isnt even out is a horrible idea.

I'll get a 9600pro

and its not just for HL2; its also for Generals, BF42, and Call of Duty.

Hey Nick, wasn't this post about how and what to cool not if the 256 is slower than the 128?

Just asking ;-)

Anyway, if your not planning on OC'ing, you "should" be ok with stock HS/F combos on most things. Just make sure you have sufficient cool air coming in and sufficient hot out going out. Movement of air is the biggest thing you need to worry about (for obvious reasons, one being that is actually how the computer stays cool). Unfortunately I do not know anything about the Radeon GPU and its need for added cooling, nor do I know anything about Intel chips. I do know that if you turn your computer on and physically touch the CPU HS while running something like 3dmark or Prime95 and if it is so hot you cant keep your finger there, than you need some different cooling options (like getting a better HS/F combo). Again I have never owned a Radeon graphics card, but I would assume that unless you are crashing out of games a lot you would not have to modify the HS/F on it.

I hope this is some help...
