I'm looking for a new keyboard and mouse. Right now, I'm split between getting a the Logitech Cordless Freedom Optical or getting the Logitech Internet Navigator Keyboard and either Logitech Mouseman Dual Optical/Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0.

I've heard that the Logitech Cordless Optical Mouseman has a lower sample rate than the Dual Optical and the MS IME. Now I don't play any FPS games, I mainly use my computer for programming, web design and general internet surfing and word processing etc. I occassionally play sports games (mainly uses keyboard) and RTS games (mainly uses mouse). But I am not a "serious" gamer by any means. So is this lower sample rate, of the cordless optical going to affect me greatly? or at all?

Also how long are the batteries on the keyboard supposed to last?

Anyone have any idea of the range of the keyboard?

I've heard that the cordless optical is quite a drain on batteries. I am wondering whether power saving features will improve greatly in mice in the near future, or will it take time. Also, does it look like their will great advances in RF technology in the future, to improve the sample rate of the mouse?

atm, I have a really crappy keyboard and mouse, so I am going to notice huge improvements from either of these combos anyway. I'm just wondering what you guys think I should go for.

Please any info, recommendations would be greatly appreciated. This is going to be relatively expensive purchase (for kb+mouse anyway) and I want to make sure I make the right decision.

Price is not really an issue atm.

Thanks 🙂
