I plan to get the Dell XPS M1330 next month.... I was sure of getting the NVidia 8400M GS as the add on.... but now, after reading this, I am in a spot of bother.

I dont wanna play games on my laptop, except for Counter Strike: Source or condition zero...
The laptop is for my college purpose, to take notes, browse the web, do some Visual Studio 2008 programming, and watch movies...

I cant afford to be without a laptop for a few days even, if at all repairs need to be done cause of those crappy nvidia parts.... I cant chance that...

will the X3100 be enough for my purposes? especially the part about watching movies, i.e. multimedia purpose?? I wouldnt me encoding or doing any intensive stuff, i've got the rig in my sig to do that... this laptop is jus to get through my time in college, with those activities i specified above... please help me...

Also, the article that i linked from the INQUIRER.... are all the G84 and G86 parts defective?

Please please please help me....

but what about multimedia playback, especially blu-ray format>? will it suffer because of X3100.... I plan to get the Core2Duo T9300 and 4 GB of ram... along with a 7200RPM hard disk.... will choosing the X3100 cause me to suffer in terms of multimedia playback?

Regular DVDs will play just fine, but BluRay might be pushing it. Your CPU/RAM should be able to handle it, you just won't be doing anything else while the BluRay is playing.

when can you expect to see a centrino 2 platform notebook?? like, I heard Intel GMA X4500 is gonna be late.... like, how long late would it be...??

Centrino 2 laptops will be out in early to mid August, so if you order one by then it should be shipped to you by September.

You're overthinking it. Graphics don't have as much of an effect on multimedia stuff as the processor and ram do. Your processor will be overkill for what you want to do, so don't worry about it.
